DIY: T-Shirt Beach Bag

This week’s tee DIY offers a quick solution for an impromptu beach or market bag. It takes about 5 minutes, so I’d hardly call this one a “weekend project.” Bust out some sharp scissors, an old tee, and a safety pin, and follow along below…

– Tee (Pictured: SUPERbrand tee)
– Scissors (sharp ones)
– Safety Pin

Step 1: Cut off the sleeves, and around the neckline of the tee (see above)

Step 2: Cut 4 strips of fabric from the sleeve scraps. Pull on the ends a bit to stretch them out

Step 3: Being careful not to cut into the stitching, cut 4 small vertical slits at the hemline of the tee, equal distance apart.

Step 4: Attach the safety pin to one end of the first strip of fabric. Work the safety pin through the hemline from one slit to the second slit. Repeat with the next 4 strips of fabric.

Step 5: Gather the hem together tightly, and tie the excess pieces of fabric together at the bottom with one large knot. You’ll have a small hole at the bottom of the bag. It’s a good thing…you won’t carry the beach home with you.Just tie the knot close enough to the bottom of the bottom of the bag so that small items can’t fall out.
