The weeks and days leading up to Thanksgiving are by far some of my favorite moments of the year. Excitement is in the air as you make arrangements for all the loved ones visiting. You try to pack your weekends in with every last fall adventure you can, because as soon as December comes around you’ll switch into the winter gear and focus on the holiday season. I’m not going to complain about the summer weather that just won’t kick it here in Laguna, but I do have a pile of cold weather styles just waiting to be loved. If you can’t wear leggings and a fur coat where you are, then take a drive and find a place you can – or at least that’s what I did! Big Bear is so beautiful this time of year with the changing leaves and bitter cold wind that sweeps through the giant pine trees. I was so giddy that I could finally wrap myself in a fur coat and go for a walk in the crisp morning air. For walks along wet roads, under a canopy of changing leaves, and cool wind on your face; the best outfit to wear is a warm coat, cozy leggings, and fuzzy boots. There is no better way to get excited for the Holiday season!

On our long journey home from Big Sur we turned off the marked roads and headed down some less traveled paths. We followed these winding trails until we stumbled upon one of the prettiest beaches I have seen. We spent a few hours exploring the hidden beach and forgotten coastline in San Luis Obispo. I could’ve spent hours gazing at the ocean from one of the many perfect viewpoints we discovered. There is such a feeling of wonder that can only come about from experiencing the little pieces of paradise found on unplanned adventures. I had my beautiful new bells on that were perfect for climbing, finding my footing, and simply standing still to take it all in. While I gazed out at the ocean, sharp cliffs, and climbing foliage I kept the sun out of my eyes with my hat that I swear never comes off my head. Why should it? As it got a little breezier on the cliffs, I wrapped myself in my new printed jacket. Staying chic and comfortable are two things I always plan on no matter what new, spontaneous adventure may come around the corner.

This week’s open road adventure took me to a secluded beach in Laguna. There is nothing better than a little fall weather to provide crisp air, warm sun, and gorgeous, empty beaches. As much fun as summer is I prefer the quietness that comes with the cooler weather. As the vacationers have gone home and school and work take priority in our daily schedules, it is always good to make time to get down to the beach.

Now that we are all back in the swing of things and fall has finally hit us, it’s time to put some pants on and get back to work. When you are feeling down about summer being gone, channel your feelings toward what cool clothes you can wear now. Fall is a new season to explore and enjoy. Imagine the places you will go this fall and the new friends you’ll make… and yes a new pair of shoes count as a friend! You’ve still got every weekend to wear a new outfit and see a new place. We get to challenge ourselves again with finding our fall style. I’m kicking off fall with some animal print pants and boots. Since the warm weather will linger a little longer on this side of the coast, a simple tank is a perfect compliment to these printed pants. As the season progresses it will be a blast adding new layers of style and attitude to these already bold pants. Fall comes with new adventures, responsibilities, and lots and lots of cool clothes so get on it!
