Happy Thanksgiving to you all! May you have a day filled with fun, gratitude, relaxation, and…food. Great food. Enjoy every single bite. I tend to have Thanksgiving be a splurge day, and I eat pretty much anything and everything that’s up for grabs, figure out a way to have stuffing in each bite, and wake up wishing I could just eat the pecan pie for breakfast. I must confess that I also totally kick my butt in the gym the day before, and go on a run the morning of my beloved feast. It makes smothering every single bite that I can in gravy, just that more enjoyable.

Life and fitness is all about balance, and finding yours. So give thanks for good health, family, friends, holidays…and pecan pie.

But, even non-pro or extreme athletes (ordinary joe’s like myself) are cable of amazing things. Another case in point: Beating personal bests in a timed mile, hiking a 14’er, completing a triathlon, or rehabbing from a life altering injury to being better than before.

And those are just a few examples off the top of my head. (more…)

Change with the Seasons

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset
The end of summer always bums me out, I hate to put away my bikinis and sandals and retreat indoors. But when I feel that first hint of crispness in the air I get a nostalgic excitement that comes along with fall. The change of seasons is always a good time to adjust habits and reprioritize, especially after the carefree buzz of summer. As we move into fall it is great to slow down and take cues from the shift in weather. (more…)
