My first rock climb was up a towering rock formation looming over California’s Idyllwild wilderness—three pitches and many hours with two much more experienced friends who would make sure I was safe. It was way out of my league and I scrambled over the top with bloody fingers, scraped knees, shaking arms and barely a scrap of energy left. Happy Thanksgiving to you all! May you have a day filled with fun, gratitude, relaxation, and…food. Great food. Enjoy every single bite. I tend to have Thanksgiving be a splurge day, and I eat pretty much anything and everything that’s up for grabs, figure out a way to have stuffing in each bite, and wake up wishing I could just eat the pecan pie for breakfast. I must confess that I also totally kick my butt in the gym the day before, and go on a run the morning of my beloved feast. It makes smothering every single bite that I can in gravy, just that more enjoyable.
Life and fitness is all about balance, and finding yours. So give thanks for good health, family, friends, holidays…and pecan pie.
Our favorite Palm Spring attraction? Nope, not music festivals. Date shakes. Then music festivals. In that order preferably. Followed by another late night date shake fix. But it has come to our attention that music festivals are half a year away and dates shakes aren’t #1 on the doctor recommended list.
