I’m not ashamed to admit that I get bored when I practice traditional yoga. I used to sit on my mat, choking on incense, wondering when my mind would stop drifting to “Oh no, yoga farts!,” just waiting for the day when Downward Facing Dog would actually feel like a resting pose. Why was I the only one would couldn’t get the hang of this yoga thing?

Then I decided to make my own form of yoga, and everything changed.  I got creative, got outdoors, added in some exercise, and made it a challenge. Suddenly, I understood what it felt like to flow through poses and feel refreshed when I finally stepped off my mat. Even if you find your “om” doing high-octane activities, there’s still a way to pack a punch into your yoga routine. Here are some ideas:

Saturday Salute: Raw Chocolate “Magic Shell”

What’s better than chocolate? “Healthy” chocolate…and ice cream. And it really does taste better, too. Seriously. Using the base from the banana bowl (i.e., a frozen banana made into ice cream) and raw cacao, you end up with a treat that is raw, packed with antioxidants, AND scrumdiddlyumptious.

One of the easiest things you can do to instantly de-stress or feel better, is by going outside and getting a breath of fresh air. Yes even if it’s hot and humid, or cold and rainy.
