After a long week at the contest, we headed down the coast to explore some beautiful beaches and surf spots. Driving along the Ecuadorian coastline is like nothing I have ever done before. All the homes are made mostly of bamboo and every home has at least one hammock hanging out front. When we reached our destination, Montañita, I fell in love with everything around me. The dirt roads are lined with bamboo beach shacks complete with surfboards and hammocks out front. There were about five different fruit stands selling fresh cut coconuts and every restaurant had bamboo benches and big bohemian pillows – it was beautiful! When presented with an opportunity to escape chaos, Malibu Creek State Park was our calling.

Photo Tip: Kelsey Finn

Bubbles
Photo Tip of the Week from photo contributor, Kelsey Finn…
Get creative by adding movement and texture to photos. For example, I had an image in my mind I wanted to bring to life – a girl swimming in deep blues but all you can really see is her silhouette. But when I took the photo, it seemed like it was lacking something. I decided I needed some texture to really make the photo great. I convinced 2 friends to swim down 30 feet, lay on the ocean floor, and then blow out all their air. This created a mass of bubbles my model could swim through, and the photo came out better than I could have imagined! So don’t be afraid to think out of the box!

#SWELLivin

Having a workout buddy, accountability partner, or someone who will help you get your butt up and moving is pretty much an essential thing nowadays. Let’s be honest, it’s too easy to put our fitness on the back-burner, and we all don’t have the enthusiasm or motivation of Richard Simmons 24/7 (who is amazing by the way). So, I encourage you to enlist a little bit of help.

Here are a few suggestions:
