Summer Cocktail Inspo: Catalina Cooler

catalina cooler

This beachy beverage was born on the sands of Salt Creek Beach, where I worked at a bar-tender at the St. Regis Monarch Beach. Yes, it seems a little fruity but plenty of surf industry captains sipped down countless Catalina Coolers after sun soaked sessions at Gravels. Inspired by the island 26 mi off our coastline, the Regis charged $16 a pop and Carl Nolet himself (Ketel Owner) sucks them down at the beach club too.

Ingredients:
2 Parts Ketel One Citron
2 Parts Fresh Squeezed Lemonade
Strawberry Puree (commonly found at most markets, try Daily brand)
Lemon-cello or Cointreau
Frozen Strawberries & Ice

Directions:
1. Fill a tall cocktail glass or mason jar with ice & frozen berries
2. Pour equal parts Ketel Citron and Lemonade into glass (yes, I have a heavy hand)
3. Add a splash of lemon or orange liqueur
4. Stir a lot, or beat it up in a cocktail shaker
5. Pour into glass (Optional: coat rim of glass with sugar before)
6. Drizzle strawberry puree over drink, and watch the trippy booze waves
7. Serve & enjoy summer vibes wherever it takes you…
