I can’t really complain about living in Southern California, but sometimes I do wish we were able to see the brilliant fall colors this season showcases. I decided a trip up north would take me to these falls colors and also give me an adventure fix. So this past weekend I ventured up the coast headed north. With stops in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Cambria we made our way up the narrow roads to Big Sur! We decided to camp – which was chilly but so much fun. Once we pitched our tent we went out to explore what this amazing coastline has to offer. We stopped at McWay Falls, one of my favorite places to visit here and cruised all along the roads stopping in remote places that had the most spectacular views. One thing about going north is it is a little colder than I’m used to, so having some comfy jackets was a must. Boyfriend jeans are also a perfect camping staple as they slip on easily and make a comfortable and stylish way to keep warm. Here are some snapshots from my adventures and the clothing essentials for a camping trip in Big Sur!

You know it’s time for a road trip to nature when your eyes start sporadically twitching from staring at a screen too much. Which is exactly what a couple of my best friends and I did last week. I hopped on board to Big Sur with Surfline Photo Editor Billy Watts and his girlfriend Jessica for an amazing week of camping, waves, hiking, and relaxing. It was the best vacation a burnt out college student like me could ask for right before finals. The sun blazed, the winds howled offshore, the beer never stopped flowing, and the beaches refreshed our tired bodies. To follow is a highlight reel of our trip, which really does not do the trip or Big Sur justice. The place is frikin’ amazing. Do yourself (and tired eyes) a favor and get there ASAP.

On one of the few straight aways on the road to Big Sur’s rocky coastline, you jog your memory for any forgotten goods for that perfect weekend camping trip. The 90 mi stretch of Ca coast boasts psychedelically scenery that has inspired people to dedicate their lives to roaming along the forest fortified beaches naked, seriously.
Oh, and did we mention the waves are pretty nuts too? We hit the road with SWELL contributing photographer Shawn Parkin for a dude cruise to capture the essence of Big Sur.
Roark, Surfer Magazine, SWELL, and Jack Daniels joined forces to celebrate the release of Roark’s latest adventure-inspired apparel collection: Fear the Sea, Respect the Tree. The ragin’ occasion took place at Zenbu Sushi bar in Cardiff by the Sea, and this “Wet Wednesday” was one for the books.
Just like their tradeshow booths, everyone threw back the Jack and got loose to local DJs Fishfonics, Will Hernandez & Huy Believe. Enjoy the evidence of this whiskey laced celebration with everyday faces of the surf industry and adventure-junkies alike.
The party marked Roark’s return from the rugged Big Sur coastline where his transcendent travels inspired the latest graphics of Angry Seas, Drunken Bears, and Psychedelic Spaceriders. Surrender to your inner adventurer and represent Roark.
