Waves for Water was started by Pro surfer Jon Rose after the 2009 7.6 quake that destroyed the city of Padang – with more than 1,000 lives lost and 100,000 homeless. He began his mission to give back, helping disaster areas and communities in need of clean water, including Haiti, where they have brought 11,000 small, portable filters to date (clean water for more than 100,000 people.)
