The Southern California wildfires have completely changed the landscape of our coastal towns. The following series was shot on October 23 & 24 at San Elijo State Beach, located at Cardiff By the Sea in North County Coastal San Diego. While the fires were roughly 15 miles due east from where these photos were taken, the smoke and ash were toxic enough to keep most indoors. Thankfully, photographer Michael Nutt is not most people. In stark contrast to the devestation that lay just over the hills, these stunning images bare a permanent reminder of Mother Nature’s viole(n)t tendencies.
