For those of you unfamiliar with the brew, Bintang is the number one selling beer in Indonesia and a staple to the diet of traveling backpackers and surfers alike. Locals, like to one pictured above, also indulge in this bubbly heineken-esque pilsner that follows the Dutch brewing traditions left behind by the former colonizer. Bir Bintang, meaning “star beer” in the local Bahasa language, is as much of an icon as any of the countless world class surf breaks that bless this fabled archipelago.
