Get the blood flowing and work up the motivation to dive into some brain freeze-inducing water. No fullsuit-wearing downward dogs involved. In fact, in recent years, studies have shown that static stretching is actually counter-productive (plus, your flailing around in a wetsuit on the shore is scaring the children). Instead, take 5 minutes to wake up your muscles and help avoid injuries that will keep you out of the water (probably for much, much longer than 5 minutes)…

This past weekend it rained non stop and as much as I love the rain, I really do miss the sun when it disappears for a few days. My favorite part about the rain is the sunny days that follow it. The air is fresh, the sky is as clear as it gets, and everything is new and green! One of these rainy mornings I ran around the muddy trails admiring all the new green that sprung up overnight. This Billabong dress was a perfect fit for my carefree prancing through the wilderness and got me even more excited for the new year ahead. This year I plan to rock my own style and not be afraid of continuing to wear bold colors, patterns, and pair my Dr Martens with pretty dresses. Just like the rain created a fresh start to this week, let the new year wipe away any insecurities and start this year being the bright, stylish bombshell you are!

If there’s one sport that’s close to my heart, it’s stand up paddleboarding. It relaxes me, is soothing, is like taking an early morning walk on water, helped me get back in the water regularly after I moved away from Hawaii, is a great time to be quiet, and (finally) is just really peaceful. Unless it’s super windy. I love how it gets people on the water who are, or have been landlocked, gets people who are scared of the water somewhat in the water, and is something you can now do all over the globe. Iowa to Germany. Colorado to Moorea. Tahoe to Texas. (more…)
Last weekend, I thought for some reason it wouldn’t be freezing to jump into the pacific without a wetsuit, in California, in the middle of winter. I was wrong. It was cold. But, it was totally worth it! After the initial shock of the frigid waters (and after my extremities went numb…) I sort of got used to the temperature and really enjoyed feeling free to swim around without any neoprene restricting my movements! I exited the ocean feeling fresh, renewed, and ready to face any challenges that come my way this year.
