A Slice Of Life | Sweet as Agave

Succulents may just be the trendiest low-maintenance gardening item of all time. The cute little ones that look like flowers are everywhere these days, and absolutely anyone can take care of ‘em. Sometimes though, they aren’t exactly pint size Pinterest pieces… for example, the California Coastal Agave can reach up to an impressive 5 meters in height! Agave isn’t just for tequila, soothing sun burns, or sweetening your coffee… It also makes for a super rad background in pictures. I’m just hanging, showing off the essential gear – Kevin Connelly watermelon surfboard; Billabong Womens wetsuit… But lets be real, this crazy cool cactus steals the show.

DIY: Tree Stump Bar Stools

Reuse, recycle and get some rad bar stools out of it. Selvage a fallen tree and you’ll score a couple of free stools that would put your hours of searching on Craigslist to shame. A dead coconut tree was used for these, but you can use whatever is available in your neighborhood. Keep an eye out for tree trimmers or freshly cut down trees – before they make it to the wood chipper. Toss in a few friends to help carry, some sand paper and varnish, and presto change-o, bar stools. Read on for the how-to… (more…)
