My life sometimes feels like one, big, long, ridiculously wonderful adventure—but there are times I feel almost guilty about it. Why is that I find myself sleeping under the stars by a campfire every weekend? How is it that I spend my weeknights running through a forest or rock climbing at sunset?
Ok, having a Sprinter helps. But here’s the thing: I’m no trust fund baby. I work full time. I have a house to clean, dogs to feed, bills to pay, and grass to mow. I think the secret is that I’ve mastered the art of the microadventure. (more…)

Open Road Style

Lately I’ve been wanting to take a road trip every chance I get. So the past few weekends have been spent traveling up to Yosemite, down to Encinitas, and a pit stop in San Onofre. You don’t have to go far to feel free and refreshed. Whether it is jumping in the salt water, standing among the redwoods, or listening to the sound of the waves from your tent, find your happy place and then take the time to do last minute road trips to wherever that may be.

Saturday Salute: How To Make Coconut Milk

Ever add coconut milk to your coffee, only to end your morning with a final swig of chalky white powder. You could only hope that the chalky substance in boxed coconut milk is some form of macerated coco. But flip the box over and read the ingredients. Chances are, the list extends far beyond coconut and water. Instead of ditching coconut milk all together, take 2 minutes (maybe 7 if starting from a whole coconut) and whip up some of the fresh stuff. You’ll end up with a creamier milk (no chalk), sans additives, stabilizers and whatever else was on that boxed variety ingredient list.
