#SWELLivin

swell_green-grass-coconuts_87-645The grass is always greener…where you water it. It’s one of my favorite metaphors for saying… love, cherish, and nurture what you’ve got, where you are, and what you’ve been blessed with. It’s so easy to compare yourself to others, which leads to a downward domino effect of taking what you have for granted, not appreciating the little things, and being a really blah human being. So water your own damn lawn, and water it a lot.

But to tie this in to the picture above. The grass is in fact always greener underneath a coconut tree. Because coconut trees are in the tropics, and it rains a lot there, so everything is lush and green.

So love and cherish what you’ve got, and try to go somewhere tropical with the ones you love too.

Slice of Life | Bikini Season Every Season

beach-van-LSpace
Around this time of year, we often hear the phrase, “Get in shape for bikini season!” thrown around expensive gym memberships, crazy juice cleanses, or supposedly magical diet pills. But really, what is bikini season!? Why do we only feel the need to be fit and healthy for a time when more of our skin is generally exposed? Instead of waiting until February to start working out, let’s all aim to keep a solid regimen throughout the entire year, so there is no mid-winter panic!

And, if you are working toward a goal, don’t be afraid to get that new bikini now, and use it as motivation to keep staying healthy… Shop resort swim on SWELL

Saturday Salute | 5 Minute Pre-Surf Warm Up

surf-warm-up-645
Get the blood flowing and work up the motivation to dive into some brain freeze-inducing water. No fullsuit-wearing downward dogs involved. In fact, in recent years, studies have shown that static stretching is actually counter-productive (plus, your flailing around in a wetsuit on the shore is scaring the children). Instead, take 5 minutes to wake up your muscles and help avoid injuries that will keep you out of the water (probably for much, much longer than 5 minutes)…

Fresh Start Style Post by Guest Blogger, Leah.

billabong-dress-1
This past weekend it rained non stop and as much as I love the rain, I really do miss the sun when it disappears for a few days. My favorite part about the rain is the sunny days that follow it. The air is fresh, the sky is as clear as it gets, and everything is new and green! One of these rainy mornings I ran around the muddy trails admiring all the new green that sprung up overnight. This Billabong dress was a perfect fit for my carefree prancing through the wilderness and got me even more excited for the new year ahead. This year I plan to rock my own style and not be afraid of continuing to wear bold colors, patterns, and pair my Dr Martens with pretty dresses. Just like the rain created a fresh start to this week, let the new year wipe away any insecurities and start this year being the bright, stylish bombshell you are!
