Kustom Airstrike -You Pick Surfing’s Best Aerialist

What better catalyst to spark the future of progressive aerial surfing than 5 of the world’s best, competing for $50K on a Mentawais boat trip? This year’s “winner takes all” event included John John Florence, Albee Layer, Matt Meola, Ryan Callinan, and Chippa Wilson. Freesurfing Innersection winners vs World Title Contender, Ausrtalia vs Hawaii… the boys definitely surfed like they had something to prove.

Watch the fourth and most freakish episode as the boys go for broke, boosting man-sized airs over super shallow razor-reefs. Absent in this episode four was Matt Meola, who head-butted some coral in the third segment of the aerial arms race.

See the other webisodes and vote for your favorite here. Voting ends September 20th, share your favorite in the comments below.

Their insane surfing style in the water is complemented by their new wave of looks on land. From scoop neck tees, to cut-offs and cat-eyes, here’s a list of their sponsors whose styles and gear is available at SWELL.

Lost Presents: War(d) Stories

Raw talent, train-wreck, hell-man… we’ve all heard bits and pieces of the Chris Ward chronicles, now Lost has immortalized the legends with the video series, WAR(d) Stories .  Fellow Lost chargers including Mason Ho pick the brains of surfing’s top names as they try to explain the enigma of Wardo.

Watch as Wardo defies conventional tour surfing and enjoy the tales told by his bros, including the opening account by the late Andy Irons.

WAR(d) STORIES – “THE TOUR” from WARD STORIES on Vimeo.

Born and bred in San Clemente, Chris Ward sparked a new breed of libertine animals in the Lost Surf team. Wardo became the first pro team rider for Lost at age 15, and turned down 6-figure contracts to leave Lost at 17. His psycho-ward mentality has since been a major influence on the Black Sheep motif of Lost products, and pushed the limits of surfing.

He’s the ultimate journeyman who seems intense, but will usually stop and for an autograph…just don’t expect him to spell your name right, or not to make a pass at your chick.

The Mayhem surfboards are undoubtedly the premier weapon of choice for anyone blowing up at Trestles. Get Lost in Wardo approved gear that has been tested from the Nullarbor Plains to Indo barrel benders.

Video: Slater Surfing Goofy

In honor of International Left Handed Day, Quiksilver released a mirrored edit of a Slater highlight reel showing the champ surfing as if he were a goofy- footer. Nobody would dare say he wouldn’t have captured as many victories at natural-footer favoring venues like Snapper and J-Bay, but it would have at least evened the playing field.

Unsurprisingly, Kelly is actually a talented switch-foot surfer. In-fact, he and Shane Dorian used to surf first switch on the first wave of their head to head heats.

Today, Kelly is equip to pull any trick out of the book in order to bag a 10 point ride in a heat. The 40 yr old reigning world champ will tell you that attention to detail has been the difference in his career. His signature Cypher Kelly Nomad boardshorts give him the agility and performance to stay a step ahead of the high flying youngsters gunning for his throne.

His favorite boardies are only $30 for this week only, that’s 55% OFF! Get the lowest price of the year here

Remember when Paul Fisher was yelling at Slater with a megaphone from the HB pier during the US Open? Well, this would be a solid video to play a joke on that Aussie heckler.
