Malibu Beaches & Bikinis with Francesca of Frankie’s Bikinis By Guest Blogger Leah Buran-Bradley

This week I visited the headquarters (a cute beach shack in Malibu) of Frankie’s Bikinis. At the young age of 18, the owner and designer of Frankie’s bikinis, Francesca Aiello, has successfully created her own swimwear company and designed her first swimwear collection, with the next collection not far away. Inspired by her travels and love for the ocean and surf, her bikinis are so unique and absolutely perfect. Not only was I able to get a glimpse of the upcoming collection and a tour of her creative offices, Francesca also showed off her favorite bikini while taking me on a trek to one of the prettiest beaches in Malibu. Want a better bum? You don’t need a special dvd or Brazilian butt lift life coach. Just learn these two words, make them your friends, and use them regularly: Sprints + Squats.

Squats, in any shape or form, work your bum. Front, back, single leg, jumping, Bulgarian..there are a bunch of options. Do them, and don’t be scared to do them with heavy weights. (Be sure you know how to have good form first, s’il vous plait.)

For sprints. When you are using your legs to run as fast as you can, you also are firing your glutes so you can get more power. Let me illustrate: Google any Olympic sprinter, and check out their buns. Pretty amazing, I know. Swimwear lines should be sending these ladies all of their cheeky bottoms. Then go check out the marathon runners backsides…yeah, not so much. So do sprints, in a park, up a hill, around a track, with your dog. (Just remember to warm up and stretch thoroughly, por favor)

…and watch that bum grow, in a rather great way.

Top 12 Fruits & Veggies To Eat Organic

In a perfect world, we would eat our fruit and veggies without a care about how it was grown or where it came from. Unfortunately, reality is that we often have to choose between buying organic… and non-organic produce. Harmful pesticides are widely used in today’s farming practices. Residue from these pesticides can be found on non-organic produce and pesticide intake has been linked to brain and nervous system toxicity, cancer, hormone disruption, and skin, eye, and lung irritation. Scary stuff right?! Whenever possible, it is best to buy and eat organic. It’s much better for your health and it helps promote eco friendly farming practices that protect farm workers, soil, water, and wildlife.

However… let’s be REAL!! Organic produce is not always accessible or affordable for everyone. So what should you do?? To start you can check out the list below to see which 12 fruits and veggies are the most contaminated. You can use this list as a guide to make certain fruits and vegetables a priority when it comes to buying organic. This list is based off studies from the Environmental Working Group (EWG). Be sure to check out the EWG for the entire list of produce tested and for more information.

Life’s short. Eat the darn cupcake.

To clarify: You want a cupcake, eat a cupcake. A fully loaded, sugar filled, and extra frosting topped one. You want a cookie, have a cookie. A butter, and chocolate chip filled, gooey one. Make sure to savor it, enjoy it, and love every bite. And here is the key… don’t do it that often. And I recommend only having one.

Cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and special treats aren’t made to be healthy. So I don’t recommend trying to make a healthy cookie/baked good. Think of why you are trying to make a healthy version…my guess is it’s so you can eat them more frequently, or so you don’t feel so bad eating 7 cookies at once. Yup, that totally negates any healthy benefit from the aforementioned healthy recipe. Plus, you end up just craving sweets even more. Trust me, carob chip sugar free chocolate chip cookies made with yogurt will have you running back for a batch of Nestle Toll House slice & bake in no time.

Eat the cupcake, and make it a special occasion treat (sorry, 5:00 every Wednesday and Friday after work doesn’t make it in the special occasion category). Then keep your focus on eating healthy.
