Last week, I stepped out to the home break for a twilight slide after a long day of classes, savoring the crisp autumn air. My rigorous school schedule sometimes doesn’t allow me to paddle out until the sun is wavering on the horizon line, and even when I’m exhausted, I find that some evening noseriding is the perfect way to end my day. Nothing can beat that moment when the wind dies down, and all becomes still except for the smooth rhythm of the sea.
I can’t really complain about living in Southern California, but sometimes I do wish we were able to see the brilliant fall colors this season showcases. I decided a trip up north would take me to these falls colors and also give me an adventure fix. So this past weekend I ventured up the coast headed north. With stops in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Cambria we made our way up the narrow roads to Big Sur! We decided to camp – which was chilly but so much fun. Once we pitched our tent we went out to explore what this amazing coastline has to offer. We stopped at McWay Falls, one of my favorite places to visit here and cruised all along the roads stopping in remote places that had the most spectacular views. One thing about going north is it is a little colder than I’m used to, so having some comfy jackets was a must. Boyfriend jeans are also a perfect camping staple as they slip on easily and make a comfortable and stylish way to keep warm. Here are some snapshots from my adventures and the clothing essentials for a camping trip in Big Sur!

As a UC Santa Barbara student, I can vouch for the intellect and kindness of all of the residents of Isla Vista, who can qualify as party animals, bookworms, talented athletes and artists, or all of the above. Abs. At times they seem like the wrath of Sisyphus. You can go and do 300 or more crunches a day, buy a miracle contraption or product, or whatever else is out there, but I’d like to save you some time and tell you the number one thing that helps with your abs. (more…)
