Looking for a fresh start to the new year? A realistic resolution perhaps? Instead of committing to a liquid diet for the next week, take a note from Kelly Slater and start each morning off with a glass of warm water with lemon. Baby steps here.
As great as new year’s resolutions can be. 95% of us are setting ourselves up of failure. I mean it would be awesome if we could all lose 10 lbs, volunteer more, start an animal shelter, go on a dream vacation, eat 100% organic, and start an etsy store. Bravo to anyone who can achieve all that. I’d love some tips. But I am all about the baby steps. Deciding to make little decisions every day that help to achieve a big goal. Yeah, choosing to drink Green Tea instead of a Big Gulp on Friday afternoons might not seem like a glamorous thing to talk about, but it’s little things like that that make a difference. (more…)
January can sometimes feel like a month long hangover after the holiday madness. We are burnt out from family, parties, sweets, shopping and obnoxious Christmas music. By the time the first of the year rolls in we can’t bring ourselves to get out of bed or hold a coherent conversation.
Don’t fight the urge to hibernate. This is a perfect time to make plans for the year ahead and set some milestones to help get you motivated. The start of something new is always a good time to reflect and decide what changes you would like to see in your life. (more…)
A wise young woman named Dorothy once said, “There’s no place like home.” Even though she was fictional, the Wizard of Oz is an AWESOME musical… and her words ring so very true. As the holidays approach, for college students, that means finals, finals, finals… and not much else. Even though the surf was firing, my head was buried in books all last week, and I could only look out the window and sigh, wishing I were in the waves. Fortunately, the stress came to an end, and the embrace of my home, the Pacific Ocean, greeted me in SWELLabration.
