The Larry “Flame” Moore Memorial at Salt Creek A slightly controversial, yet incredibly epic plaque installed by local surfers
Dana Point Local’s install a Plaque mounted rock at the Salt Creek Point Lookout in memory of Larry “Flame” Moore. Flame was the Chief Photo Editor of Surfing Magazine for 30 yrs before losing a battle to brain cancer. The beloved lensman’s surf photos put Salt Creek surf on the map and was known as a visionary for pushing progressive style of surf media.

The Plaque was installed without Orange County’s permission, but even locals and lifeguards support the idea of keeping their old friend Larry checking the point with them. SWELL proudly supports. Read more about the slightly controversial situaction surrounding the plaque below. (more…)
