Get The Look: Isla Fisher

blog0204091

Isla Fisher knows how to fight off any winter anguish. Her outfit is delightful in every way as she pulls off this single colored look effortlessly. Who knew an outfit with the blues could be so adorable?  And those colored shades are, no doubt, the frosting on the cake. Isla admitted that prior to her starring role in, Confessions of a Shopaholic, she usually played it safe when it came to fashion risks. “The most fun fashion discovery was to use a lot of color in my wardrobe. I’m fairly conservative normally, and I just feel like Patricia Field [the film's stylist] brought out the color in me. I now love to wear color.” It seems that Isla has caught the fashion bug, and color is her muse. Inspired by her look, I have found an outfit on Swell.com that channels Isla’s, but with even more personality and flare.

NEW FEATURED STYLIST MICHELLE MITCHELL ROCKS YOUR WARDROBE

GET INSPIRED BY HER ROCKIN’ OUTFITS PICKS AND A FIND OUT HOW SHE MADE IT!

DREAM OF BECOMING A PROFESSIONAL STYLIST? FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN HERE!

picture-1

Santa Rosa born and Laguna Beach bred, stylist Michelle Mitchell is a fashion powerhouse packed in a tiny, albeit very chic and contemporary, package. An automatic go-to girl for Swell, Rip Curl and numerous other apparel giants, Michelle is adored for her eclectic savoir faire and can-do attitude. (Of all the well-loved styling stories in the industry, the greatest is the one about Michelle’s killer poise and positivity during a tense studio shoot when a major earthquake hit.)

Her calling came very early – during her diaper years to be exact – when it was noted that she would always get a jump on the cuter outfits, leaving her twin Shay the “uglier“ versions.

A big time lover of Fred Segal, Buffalo Exchange, Swell, eBay, and the Rose Bowl’s famous flea market, Michelle’s own personal style can easily be called beachy Bohemian – but with tall boots and a bandana thrown in for her trademark twist. Boots are actually something you’ll rarely see Michelle without, as she firmly believes they’re the saving grace that will make any ensemble appear more polished and put-together.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, we put Michelle to the test on the hot trends to favor and those to ignore – and ended up contemplating whether we should throw out everything in our closet.

gallery-banner

Final score: Swell – 10, 384, 222. Everyone else: 0.

This week’s launch of our new Surf Gallery series tees marks yet another monumentous occasion, proving Swell is indeed the world’s premier surf shop. (I think we’ve been saying that since day 1, but now we say it with a lot more conviction.) Partnering with the famed Surf Gallery in Laguna Beach, we’re featuring the works of some of their most prolific artists on limited runs of highly sought after t-shirts. Renowned artists include: Harry Daily, Koji Toyoda, Julie Goldstein and Scott Richards.

In the upcoming weeks we’ll be profiling each artist, but I’d like to start with Harry Daily—being that I still owe him $30 for two signed posters I stole from him 12 years ago. (more…)
