Behind the Cover | Ryan Struck Holiday Cover Photog Talks Getting the Shot in New Jersey's Freezing Surf Scene

First off, did you build the snowman for that shot? haha

Ryan:  Before I swam out to shoot some fisheye, I noticed a young child building the snowman and I knew I had to get out before the sunset and grab a lineup shot. West Coastin’ | Big Sur A Series On Sand + Sun with Guest Blogger Leah.

I can’t really complain about living in Southern California, but sometimes I do wish we were able to see the brilliant fall colors this season showcases. I decided a trip up north would take me to these falls colors and also give me an adventure fix.  So this past weekend I ventured up the coast headed north. With stops in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Cambria we made our way up the narrow roads to Big Sur! We decided to camp – which was chilly but so much fun. Once we pitched our tent we went out to explore what this amazing coastline has to offer. We stopped at McWay Falls, one of my favorite places to visit here and cruised all along the roads stopping in remote places that had the most spectacular views. One thing about going north is it is a little colder than I’m used to, so having some comfy jackets was a must.  Boyfriend jeans are also a perfect camping staple as they slip on easily and make a comfortable and stylish way to keep warm. Here are some snapshots from my adventures and the clothing essentials for a camping trip in Big Sur!
