Trend: Natural Waisted Styles

With everything taking the natural path lately, it’s no surprised that waistlines have started to catch on. Go with the flow with a natural waisted dress or top. It’s a perfect balance between a shapeless A-line that hides any curves, and a form fitting number that shows every bump. Natural waists accent your figure while still leaving something to the imagination. Since we’ve always thought that natural looks better, this is one trend that shouldn’t go to waist. Trend: Strapless Dresses and Tops

This season, getting tubed just got a lot easier. Cut the ties and pull into something strapless for a breezy look that’s as sassy as it’s scrumptiously comfortable. It’s a must for sunny days and tan-line free festival patronage. The look is best kept simple, accented with a wide bangle, sleek clutch and thin sandals. So lose the straps and get some summery chic style.

Fountain Valley High Wins Hurley’s Walk The Walk

One of Swell’s favorite yearly events is Hurley’s Walk the Walk. A real life combination of “Project Runway” and “America’s Next Top Model”, Walk The Walk pits rival high schools in catwalk showdowns featuring retooled and restyled Hurley lines.

But the event’s real challenge is the original design competition where team’s must create stellar his and her’s ensembles. Extremely competitive, all Walk The Walk events display the same glamorous, rock-n-roll atmosphere you’d expect at Bryant Park during Fashion Week. (more…)

Get The Look: Skinny Ankle Jeans

Judging by Selena Gomez and Nicky Hilton, it looks like the hot skinny jeans trend has evolved into the even hotter ankle zip skinny jeans trend—an even more versatile addition to your wardrobe.  Sometimes seen with buttons or clean slits instead of zippers, this look will allow you to try some new styles for spring. For those who aren’t fans of skinny jean, I’m sorry but it looks like they’re going to be around for at least another season. But don’t fear, as the ankle zip version gives you an opportunity to sport the trend without committing to the traditional skinny jeans.  I know the words “skinny jeans” alone can strike fear into many, but contrary to popular belief it’s a look that can be worn by anyone. It’s really all about proportions, so try wearing a longer, looser top to balance the look.
