Meet Your Maker | Yea.Nice’s JJ Thomas Olympic Medalist & Yea.Nice Co-Founder Takes Us Behind the Beanie
In our ongoing series spotlighting the faces behind core companies who practice what they preach, we caught up with JJ Thomas of YEA.NICE. He Co-founded it in 2010 after an accomplished snowboard career that included an Olympic bronze medal in the 2002 snowboard halfpipe, an X-Games gold medalist, and 2010 Dew Tour Champion. He took his battle-tested beanie knowledge to build a brand, and it we’re stoked he shared it with SWELL.
What was the inspiration for focusing solely on building a beanie brand?
JJ:Beanies speak to Josh’s (co-founder) and I’s roots after bearing some of the harshest winter conditions so we understand quality from a functional standpoint as well. We engineered a new in-store beanie display to give our customers a unique experience when selecting trying on our beanies at retail, we also created Beanies4Life, a one for one program that helps the homeless community through our beanies, so everything we’re accomplishing comes back to beanies which is why we made that choice to be a beanie focused brand.
