New Talent Exclusively at Swell: Indigo Child

What’s black, white, and bohemian all-over? It’s the new jewelry line Indigo Child from NY’s Brit. An eclectic collection of earthy stones, silver, fringe and occasional fool’s gold. We were so smitten with the line, we thought, “we must tell the Gatsby’s about this!” ….

-In 3 words, describe Indigo Child.
Brit: To describe what an indigo child is, cannot be done in 3 words, so for anyone who doesn’t know, please research it via google etc.. But to describe my line in 3 words. I would say flattering, interesting, simply wearable art.

-What influences your designs?
Native American jewelry, Tibet, Thailand, Africa, India, weather, dreamcatchers, feathers, wild animals, nature, the outdoors, mountains, the 60’s and 70’s, music, freedom, peace, love, indigo!, warrior spirit, life, beauty, the ocean, shells, rocks, stones, crystals..

– When did you start designing jewelry?
About 5 years ago. I’ve always had a love for buying jewelry just to take it apart and make something else out of it.

– If you could only keep one piece to wear forever, which would it be?
O jeez, this is an extremely hard question.. So hard!! I guess I would go with the dreamweaver necklace in silver/grey. Its soo wearable! And goes with everything dressy or casual!!

– If you could design for any celebrity, who would it be?
Stevie knicks. heart. The XX

– Know any good jokes?
Knock knock. Who’s there? Indigo child. Indigo child who? Indigo child is amazing! Indigo child is amazing who? Indigo child is amazing beautiful handmade jewelry and is available now only on!!!!!!!! Hahhahah

Fashion for a Cause

We love it when our favorite happen help both our style and a fully worthy cause. Hence our excitement when we heard about the Reef Ugandal Sandal. The colorful beading on the leather t-strap sandals are made from 100% recycled paper, crafted by displaced women from Uganda.
The sandal is part of a greater Reef effort that helps to support 31 bits, a fair-trade organization that helps displaced women from Uganda work and start their own businesses through creative art. In addition to getting unique (and comfortable!) style, 1% of each sale goes to the Reef Redemption fund, Reef’s own humanitarina and environmental effort.
