Roark “Fear the Sea” Release Party

Roark, Surfer Magazine, SWELL, and Jack Daniels joined forces to celebrate the release of Roark’s latest adventure-inspired apparel collection: Fear the Sea, Respect the Tree. The ragin’ occasion took place at Zenbu Sushi bar in Cardiff by the Sea, and this “Wet Wednesday” was one for the books.

Just like their tradeshow booths, everyone threw back the Jack and got loose to local DJs Fishfonics, Will Hernandez & Huy Believe. Enjoy the evidence of this whiskey laced celebration with everyday faces of the surf industry and adventure-junkies alike.

The party marked Roark’s return from the rugged Big Sur coastline where his transcendent travels inspired the latest graphics of Angry Seas, Drunken Bears, and Psychedelic Spaceriders. Surrender to your inner adventurer and represent Roark.

Raptoberfest -Rise Against Plastic With Surfrider

October is “Rise Above Plastics” Month, or Raptoberfest: a month long  campaign to identify the harms of plastics and implement solutions to this global pollutant.  Every year the Surfrider Foundation mobilizes their team of passionate watermen to create rad ideas to help you reduce your plastic footprint.

Surfers see the harms of plastics firsthand, with one million seabirds and one hundred thousand marine mammals washing up dead from ingestion or entanglement in plastics each year. This prompted surf companies like Billabong, Hurley and Element to manufacture surfwear with upcycling, by building spent plastics into products of greater quality than before. So while most beach lovers try to Rise Against Plastics every month, the surf industry dedicates October to make this a mainstream ideology.

The Annual Surfrider Event has been instrumental in achieving:

-Banning the Bag in many Ca cities, Portland and internationally
-Impactful research about the Pacific Garbage Patch
-Innovative reducing & recycling solutions.

One Foot at a Time Plastic Clean-up Contest

This creative clean-up activity brings together volunteers from across the country to turn the plastic beach trash into symbolic art pieces. One square foot at a time, beach-goers make cleaner oceans, unique mosaic sculptures, and win Rusty Surf prizes for: Most Creative, Best Use of Materials, Most Trash Collected, Best Photo, Best Overall.

Stocked with Eco-conscious gear, The Surfrider Store is your one stop shop for organic tees and rad gift ideas for that surfer on your gifting list.
