Surfing Winter Swells Up North

With meager waves on tap on the California coast this winter it takes a real frother to track down the fickle swells squeaking past the island shadows. So SWELL copywriter Nate Zoller and brother Issac headed north in search of open water swells above point conception.

Video By LEAF, now available on SWELL

“Even though it was firing, I was the only guy out at some spots and the water was soo damn cold, it took all day to warm up. If it wasn’t for my new Matuse wetsuit, I wouldn’t have surfed as much” Says Nate

SWELL is stoked to have Nate Dog working here everyday, but we’ve accepted the inevitability that he’ll soon buy a one way ticket to some firing island chain. Its quite obvious in these photos that he can’t stay put.

Nate is a proud ambassador of LEAF clothing, made for coastal vagabonds like him. Get with LEAF

Tee Street 2Fer Shirt Sale

In honor of our sacred local surfspot on Trafalgar Street in San Clemente, we’ve launched a sale on our top tees in surf. On any given day you can see international surf stars on the bluffs or their boards, repping the brands featured in the sale.

Swoop up the freshest styles before the tide drops out on this deal, like it does to the waves at boneyards.

Since San Clemente kids like Kolohe Andino and Luke Davis gained the rep of “the new guard of progressive surfing” T-street and the beachbreaks leading to Trestles have become a magnet for aspiring pros to work on their aerial game. This hotbed of talent makes it difficult to rack up a good wave count for your session, but just sit back and enjoy the show from regulars: The Gudang Bros, Wardo, Kelly Slater, The Fletchers, Beschens and the 29-time division champs San Clemente HS Surf Team.

Since the age of no-phones and no-cameras at surf spots has long passed, enjoy standout hashtags from a few T-street regulars.
