New at Swell: The Critical Slide Society

css

The Critical Slide Society (we’ll use TCSS for this absurdly long, but never-the-less awesome, name) is a slippery little creature. Wrestled from the minds, pencils & sketchbooks of a small few in Australia & the United States, it has been fed on a strict diet of colorful foam mowers, soulful skeg flexers (past & present) and the versatility of the humble surf craft beneath their  feet. It currently resides in the back shed, along with the wolf rider & a sewing machine, stitching tidy tees & trunks for its owners & whoever else might be interested. Employing the best artists money can’t buy, and style gurus that can cross-step on any Milan boardwalk, TCSS has developed a lifestyle line that makes us happier than alternating pictures of boobies and chubby kittens.

Saved by the Bikini: Tavik Swim

NEW AT SWELL: TAVIK SWIM

It’s a style neon Indians and Lisa Turtle would throw down for; a 90’s revival, complete with Western bolo tie undertones; equal parts Motley Crue and Cosby sweater. This swim mayhem of neon, exposed zippers and monokinis is a style that could only be Tavik Swimwear.

We’d Tap That.

In case you bottle opener sandals, bottle opener fin key/wax/comb boardshort attachment, and bottle opener belt buckle – all seem a little too far from the bottle-opening action, a San Diego company has just released a bottle opening watch buckle. Alas, sudsy salvation is here!

San Diego, CA – March 3, 2010 — Time Tap, Inc™., a new lifestyle accessory company, today introduced a wrist watch with a bottle opener built seamlessly into the band buckle. The watch features a sophisticated “anadigital”  face with a wide perforated leather band that blends a patented stainless steel buckle that doubles as a bottle opener. The Happy Hour™ watch—the first of its kind and the first product from Time Tap—will be available at retail in late March 2010.

Apart from the patented bottle opener on the buckle, each watch is built upon a Japanese quartz AL55b + Chinese LCD movement wrapped in a silver alloy plated stainless steel case paired with a soft but durable matte-black leather band with up to 9 sizing options. The face of the watch features an analog clock on the left and a back-lit digital clock on the right that display the time, day of the week and date. Utilities also include a stop watch and alarm.

The Happy Hour watch is built for those who want to have a little fun opening their beverage with an accessory that matches their lifestyle. The patented buckle allows consumers to open their favorite bottled beverage with nothing more than a flick of the wrist, and without taking off the watch. “All of my friends were becoming lawyers and respected professionals, but we would all get together to surf and drink beers on the weekends.” says Dominic Chenelia, entrepreneur and founder of Time Tap, Inc. “It just made sense to develop a product that could be worn on the beach and in the boardroom.”.

The Happy Hour watch will be available in North America online at the Happy Hour website and select retailers in late March 2010. For a select promotional period, Time Tap will reduce the price of Happy Hour to (SRP: $69.95) and will offer free shipping to the first fifty orders made through the Happy Hour website. Purchases can be made in the US nationwide at www.happyhourtimepieces.com.
