It looks as if my (I mean, the media’s) hype about the youngsters on tour is right on target.
I feel like the tour has taken a breath of fresh air this year: The rookies and veterans are definitely pushing each other to progress their surfing. Day two brought heats to remember, with the heat of the day going to Silvana Lima and Coco Ho—the queen of aerials and proud owner of this week’s only perfect 10, versus the on-fire Hawaiian rookie. And, drum roll please, after a six-minute judge’s delay, Coco Ho took the win to prove she’s a force to be reckoned with. After defeating Rebecca Woods in the following round, Ho made it through to the semis where she’ll face fellow islander Melanie Bartels. Without a doubt, I’m more excited than ever for the 2009 ASP Women’s World Tour. Why, you might ask? One word: Rookies. This year is sure to see its share of fireworks as the mix of seasoned veterans and fresh faces will be nothing less than spectacular. The roster includes Sally Fitzgibbons, Bruna Shmidz (who just happens to be the girlfriend of 2007’s men’s rookie of the year and WCT top 10 finisher, Jeremy Flores), Paige Hareb, Alana Blanchard and Coco Ho. They may be young, but they’ve been preparing for this debut for years and are ready to show off their bag of tricks. (more…)
It looks like one of holiday’s favorite trends has decided to stick around for spring. A look usually favored by lumber jacks, Lauren Conrad has pulled of the plaid shirt trend with great success. By pairing the shirt with skinny jeans, heals and a bright purse, LC takes the look from masculine to chic. Great for stylishly laid-back day wear, or dramatic when paired with skinny jeans and heels for a night out, this trend looks like it’s here to stay. Arent you glad that plaid is back?
What’s not to love about the shirt dress? Sounds like the most comfortable outfit in the entire universe to me—and Rachel Bilson’s take on the trend is adorably chic. During the past few years the shirt dress has become an essential for spring and summer. The look is fun and casual, and invites creativity. With a few key accessory changes, you can effortlessly go from day to night. Simply put: You must have this dress for spring 09.
