I’ve seen a certain quote circulating around a lot lately. I don’t know who said it, but it is a 100% certified, amazing truth. “Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.”

Yes, yes it is. Think back on some of your best stories, memories, laughs, pictures…my bet, is the majority of them have something to do with travel. Whether it was a weekend road trip or three weeks in South Africa, getting out and seeing what this big ‘ol amazing world has to offer is one of the more amazing and exhilarating things you can do.

If your idea of travel happens to involve a board that incurs a rather hefty baggage fee, well then let’s say that type of travel hits the jackpot. Surf trips get you in the water, give you a ton of exercise, and are great for your mental and physical health. Yes, even if there is an obnoxious wave hog in your group. Or a boat of them following you wherever you go.

So, my theory is this: if travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer, well then, a surf trip is like winning the lotto.

…which is always a great excuse to go on one.

You know what makes me happy? A soft tee. A really soft tee that speaks my mind. One of those soft, perfect tees you can wear anywhere: hiking, working out, to yoga, surfing (yeah for a little extra sun protection), or just with a pair of jeans…and not look like I am wearing a tee I wore four times already this week, that was previously drenched in saltwater.

It’s the simple things in life that make me smile: walks, naps, coffee, waves, dogs, nature…and somehow, I firmly believe soft tees fit into that equation. Maybe I’m weird, maybe more people feel the same. But, I think it’s totally ok if a tee makes you really, really happy.

…and if you own a lot of them.

Let’s all thank the ocean for a few things, shall we?

It makes us feel really really small. Which is always a good thing.
It can humble us with the crash of a wave, even the really small ones.
It can inspire us in so many ways, with such little effort.
…and it leaves us all salty, refreshed, and ready to dive in for more as much as possible.

So, when was the last time you spent some time in the big blue sea? Warning: The side effects will do your mind and body a whole bunch of good.

The sun. It’s a tricky and sneaky big ‘ol massive ball of gas. It’s easy to know when you reeeeeeaaaaally need to be protected from it: bright sunny days, beach days, SUNNY days. But what about those in between days, cold days, rainy, or heck, even snowy days? Well, A long time ago I heard a great tip (it happened to be on a vacation and I was rather bummed that it wasn’t sunny at the time)… If you can see your shadow, at all, you better have some SPF slathered on.

Shadow = The sun’s getting to you. Even if it’s a faint little wimpy shadow. So when in doubt, slather on some SPF. Your skin will thank you. Now and in the future.
