Want a better bum? You don’t need a special dvd or Brazilian butt lift life coach. Just learn these two words, make them your friends, and use them regularly: Sprints + Squats.

Squats, in any shape or form, work your bum. Front, back, single leg, jumping, Bulgarian..there are a bunch of options. Do them, and don’t be scared to do them with heavy weights. (Be sure you know how to have good form first, s’il vous plait.)

For sprints. When you are using your legs to run as fast as you can, you also are firing your glutes so you can get more power. Let me illustrate: Google any Olympic sprinter, and check out their buns. Pretty amazing, I know. Swimwear lines should be sending these ladies all of their cheeky bottoms. Then go check out the marathon runners backsides…yeah, not so much. So do sprints, in a park, up a hill, around a track, with your dog. (Just remember to warm up and stretch thoroughly, por favor)

…and watch that bum grow, in a rather great way.

Life’s short. Eat the darn cupcake.

To clarify: You want a cupcake, eat a cupcake. A fully loaded, sugar filled, and extra frosting topped one. You want a cookie, have a cookie. A butter, and chocolate chip filled, gooey one. Make sure to savor it, enjoy it, and love every bite. And here is the key… don’t do it that often. And I recommend only having one.

Cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and special treats aren’t made to be healthy. So I don’t recommend trying to make a healthy cookie/baked good. Think of why you are trying to make a healthy version…my guess is it’s so you can eat them more frequently, or so you don’t feel so bad eating 7 cookies at once. Yup, that totally negates any healthy benefit from the aforementioned healthy recipe. Plus, you end up just craving sweets even more. Trust me, carob chip sugar free chocolate chip cookies made with yogurt will have you running back for a batch of Nestle Toll House slice & bake in no time.

Eat the cupcake, and make it a special occasion treat (sorry, 5:00 every Wednesday and Friday after work doesn’t make it in the special occasion category). Then keep your focus on eating healthy.

One of the best tips I ever heard in regards to nutrition is this: if you can’t pronounce it, you probably shouldn’t be eating that much of it. So…let’s all read those labels, and test out our diction skills.

Here’s what I did. I read the ingredients on a label of fat free salad dressing, and Googled any ingredients that were looking suspicious. One such ingredient: EDTA, aka Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid. Makes your mouth water, doesn’t it? Well, I also found a fun little site called Whatisthatingredient.com, and this is what Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid is…sounds like the perfect compliment to a cobb salad, doesn’t it?

Good news. Most food that is unpackaged and not processed or made to have a long shelf life, has ingredients you can easily pronounce. I hope. What are the ingredients in a grape? Grape. What are the ingredients in olive oil? Olive oil. What’s in that salmon you just grilled? Salmon. Get my point? I hope. Keep things simple. Learn to cook a little, and say buh bye to all the additives and preservatives. Your body will thank you for it.

…wish I could remember who gave me that tip, so I could give them a high five. And some homemade salad dressing. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid not included.

They say:
Choose a job you love,
and you will never have to work a day in your life.

Well…
You can also
find something active to love,
and you will never have to work out that much either.

…Hope that makes sense.

If not… here are a few examples of active things to love that also happen to get your heart pumping and keep your body active: Surfing, SUP, kayaking, paddling, running, walking, dancing, zumba, pilates, hiking, biking, boxing, yoga, skating, climbing, swimming, soccer, basketball, tennis, even golf (walking the course, sorry carts take away the cardio)…just to name a few. Figure something out, and working out will turn into something you get to do, rather than are forced to do.
