A Whole New Creature (Tee)

New Kid Creature Tees
I LOVE CALVIN! I also love lamp. No, but really – this kid is eleven years old and already a total cutie with some major skills in and out of the water. An asthma and allergy sufferer himself, Calvin relates to kids with cystic fibrosis and wants to do his part in helping find a cure. Drawing these funky designs and throwing them on tees, he donates 10% of all proceeds to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. With older grom fanfare and lots of local support, Kid Creature has already made a strong impression in the surfing community. Help spread the word and support Calvin’s cause!

Surf Like A Girl (Yes, It’s A Good Thing)

Like a kitten in a knitting circle at Nike’s new all-female surf movie, Leave A Message….

After watching the Leave a Message trailer, I posted something on my Facebook like, “OMG I’m so excited to see this surf film,” and by the grace of the surf gods, hours later I had an invite to see the OC premiere that Friday night. I have good friends, what can I say (Thank you Jen!!)

Showing up, I felt a little silly as I took my front row seat among the crowd of nine year old girls but my reservations went out the window when I first spotted Coco Ho. Almost peeing myself in excitement I thought, “No Elsa, you are right where you belong.”

Kudos to all the girls but hands down, my favorite part was Carissa Moore’s tow-in clip. Epic.

Afterwards I was lucky enough to participate in a Q&A with some of the girls. Meeting Coco Ho, Laura Enever, Malia Manuel, Monica Byrne-Wickey and Carissa Moore – what can I say other than I can now die a happy lady. Star struck? Me? Umm, YEAH!

Hope you get a chance to see the film too!!
Oh, wait, you can… Watch it HERE

As my coworker Morgan so perfectly put it, “Takes the sting out of the phrase ‘surf like a girl’.”

Pain Is Just Weakness Leaving The Body

We at Swell like to think of ourselves as an active bunch.

Any given day of the week, come lunchtime, you will probably witness a large group of us heading to a local gym OR hitting up a nearby trail OR heading to the beach to catch some waves…

On the weekends, when waves suck, a lot of us roll to the mountains.

California spoils us… Yes, we know.

In classic ‘Jackass’ fashion though, sometimes we hurt ourselves in pursuit of THE DREAM. For the last three Mondays, our cr3w has been struck down by the not-so-forgiving extreme sport Gods.

Let our pain = your gain.

 Enjoy!

(And please kids…don’t try this at home…)
