FOX NEWS PICKS UP ON SWELL’S CELEBRITY STYLE

We knew our blog was good, but Fox News just told us exactly how good. As of today, their highly popular FNC iMag now features several webisodes with style maven Noelle Watters calling out Swell’s dead-on celebrity looks—but at a fraction of the celebrity price. If you’re one of our regular readers, you should be familiar with our Get The Look posts, in which we recreate a Hollywood fashionista’s outfit with our own special blend of surf style flavor. Apparently, the word is out on how well we do it.

WINTER TREND: BRITNEY’S TOGGLE COAT

togglecoat
A favorite of Brit and Paddington Bear, the toggle coat is making a big comeback this season. Taking inspiration from circa 1952, stuffed bears, and the Gorton’s fish stick guy, the toggle coat is a playful way to add some funk to the black coat-dotted streets this winter. We love this classic detail that adds some jazz to your basic winter coat without making it too bold to wear every day. With winter storms and hot dates on their way, you’ll be thankful you have the fun outerwear issue buckled down!

GOSSIP-WORTHY STYLE

blog12208.jpg

Nobody knows fashion better than Gossip Girl. The wardrobe is hotter than the drama, and the show is constantly pushing the limits and taking risks. Giving the Sex in the City crew a run for their money when it comes to street-friendly style, the show is setting trends that could make any girl look like a star. This light, airy and figure-flattering look is as simple as throwing on sweats, but achieves a 5th Avenue allure. Best of all, the style works on almost every frame and isn’t over seasoned with out-there accoutrements. In just 6 mixable separates, Gossip Girl style can transform into your everyday chic. The breezy tunic paired with leggings and saucy knee high boots is a show stopper on its own.  Add on this season’s favorite slouchy cardigan and a sugary faux patent alligator bag and you will, undoubtedly, be the best dressed. Psst…take notes because this style’s about to stir up some gossip!

DOUBLE OH-7 STYLE

bondgirl.jpg

Featured look: Lucy Love Maxi Stella Dress

When a girl has to compete with impeccably Italian-tailored Tom Ford suits for the spotlight, her style has to be right on cue. Throughout the classy, martini-soused years of  James Bond movies, the leading ladies have been challenged with finding fashions that can take some of the light from the man every woman wants and every man wants to be—while still appearing strong, elegant, and capable of wielding a hand gun while driving the getaway car. Think Honey Rider’s (Ursula Andress) iconic swimsuit, or Pussy Galore’s (Honor Blackman) curve-hugging sweater dresses adorned with powerful menswear accents. Such a look was once again seamlessly executed in the recent James Bond: Quantum of Solace. The spicy new leading lady, Olga Kurylenko, manages to dress in pieces that match the savvy nature of a Bond girl. With flowy, curvaceous gowns and youthful but rich separates, the new Bond girl is a perfect compliment to Daniel Craig’s (the latest actor to play Bond) high class suits. With poise, power, and undeniable sex appeal, women throughout the Bond legacy have at one time thought “I want to be her”. To get a taste of that Bond girl look, we’ve chosen some of the (more…)

WILD THINGZ

nga.jpg

helga.jpg  olga.jpg

O’Neill’s Helga and Bjork have been prominently featured in the latest National Geographic Adventure. (And no, it’s not the tribal topless exposure 4th Grade fantasies are made of.) As part of the magazine’s essential gear section, the frock and the top are part of their must-have essentials for female world travelers. Apparently you can wear them for weeks on end, wash them in the sink, hit a few midnight raves in Ibizia, and then barter them for street bikes in Kuta. Click the images for a formal introduction.

YOU’RE DAMN RIGHT IT’S A GOOD MORNING!

gma-now-vipe-cameron-talking.jpg

THIS. IS. HUGE! Far and away the biggest plug we’ve ever received came earlier this week from Good Morning America. Our great friend and supporter Vipe Desai was profiled on his involvement with project BLUE and the tremendous impact the cause has made within the industry. In the segment’s last 20 seconds, Swell.com explodes onto the screen. Our hands are still burning from the office high-five sesh. We owe a major debt of gratitude to both Vipe and Bill Byrne of BB Public Relations for making the magic happen. You rock, and you know this.
