Local Travel Guide: Long Beach, CA Just the Essentials with SWELL Event Photographer, Stephanie.
It’s that added bit of drama in the LBC that gives it a touch of intrigue. A unique, salt air oxidized version of a Southern California beach town. Ready to take a trip? Take a walk around Long Beach with SWELL Event Photographer, Stephanie while she shares her favorite neighborhood finds…
A great place for joe and juice. Weekends are crowded and diverse, except a line in the morning. Weekdays are usually the regulars and everyone knows your name. Also they offer a handsome coffee roaster pour over, otherwise known as hipster coffee. The owner also owns Beeline and Art Deco Theater. This is Long Beach’s classic coffee shop.
Grab a glass of wine or coffee next door, then catch a local movie, short, or documentary at this art deco movie theater. Or go for the Saturday night Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Go for a ‘Pike Penicillin’ and stay for the live music. To really love the Pike, go on a Sunday afternoon or get there early for breakfast and Bloody Mary’s. It’s filled with historical pictures of Long Beach, so you can learn about LB’s history in the way to the bathroom.
This record store has a good selection of vinyl, books, and CDs. Check the calendar for free live shows from local LB and LA bands.
If you’re in town April 19th, stop by for Record Store Day.
CREATIVE CENTER FOR REUSE
Run on donations, this place is a great resource for the crafty. Stock up on found photos, old books and a huge mishmash of random things. Walk away with a whole bunch of goods for $4.00 and get your etsy on.
Head for the beach bike trail and running path. Walk, bike, or hone in on your roller skating skills. Running the stairs is also popular, if you’re up for that sort of day. Or opt for saying hello to the feral cats while people watching on a crowded weekend. If you’re a yo-girl or guy, or you simply drawn to the free things in life, there is FREE yoga at Ocean Blvd and 54th place, on the bluff overlooking the ocean.
