I’ve lived somewhere where it’s predominantly sunny my entire life, up until a few months ago. It’s been a little bit of a struggle at times, but I asked some happy, healthy people who have lived in my new location (Seattle) how they deal with it, and keep their sanity. Their answer: Just get outside, even if it’s cold and grey.

So simple, but so true…and effective. Last Saturday, the weather sucked. But I bundled up and went running. Monday night was cold and rainy, and our Outrigger club still paddled out…in the dark, and it was UNREAL. Adding it to the mental picture top 10 list.

Moral of the story: Even if the weather has you more inclined to sit on the couch and watch Shawshank Redemption all day, rather than go outside and figure out a way to have some fun, choose the latter. Seize the day, greyness and all.
