In the surf movie, Waterman, Gerry Lopez said one of the more profound statements I’ve ever heard…I don’t know what it is exactly word for word,  but it basically said “I am getting rich each day, in ways that don’t count at the bank.” That quote has stuck with me for a quite some time. And man oh man is Gerry correct.

So, next time you are worried that you don’t drive a Benz, or have a trust fund that allows you to travel around the globe in five star resorts. Know that a plethora of long walks on the beach, dawn patrols, sunsets, glassy surfs, shell picking, and quality time with friends, family, or even alone time in a beautiful surrounding, make you one helluva a rich person.

In the best way possible.
