October 13′ Catalog | Follow the Light Edition

Introducing the 4th installment of the annual Follow the Light Foundation Edition (FTLF) Catalog. Once again, we’ve teamed up with the FTLF to showcase the best up-and-coming surf photographers. Each year, 5 finalists are hand-selected from across the globe for their awe-inspiring innovation.

Since 1999, we’ve had the honor of featuring some of surfing’s foremost lensmen, making our partnership with the FTLF a true privilege.

The Follow the Light Foundation in honor of Larry “Flame” Moore was founded in 2006 to help finance the dreams of surf photographers, continuing to push the limits of sport and its lensmen. As the Photo Editor of SURFING Magazine for 30 years, Larry left behind a legacy of brilliant photography and an army of photographers trained by him.

Now in its 8th year, the FTLF grant continues to act as a catalyst for inspiration, setting new standards, pushing the boundaries of surf photography, and showcasing top talent. SWELL is honored to be a sponsor of the Follow the Light Foundation –giving back to the creative minds that continue to progress the sport and Larry’s legacy.

The 2012 FTLF Grant Finalists:

TREVOR MORAN: 2013 Grant Winner -Humble, stoic and stoked to bring the win to the New Jersey surf community. His contemporary skills and experimental flash techniques already earned him the covers of Surfing Magazine, ESM, SWELL, and many more to come.

SETH DE ROULET: “My passion is photographing from the water. There is something so special about that moment when I first judge a wave and decide where to swim to put myself in a spot to best capture it.”

MARK MCINNIS: gives us glimpse of the rarely photographed surf of the Pacific Northwest. His work captures a still-unspoiled American territory, out of respect for which his subjects are unlabeled, tracks are covered and he mostly travels alone.

PAUL GREENE: A Santa Barbara native, and youngest ever finalist. 17 year old Greene displays fine art perspectives far beyond his years.

DOMENIC MOSQUEIRA: With a stubbornness to never miss a single wave of a good swell, emcee Aaron Chang was amazed by Domenic’s 12 hour sessions shooting water angles at heavy lineups like Teahupoo.
