Saturday Salute: The Banana Bowl

/Sa’lute/: Italian meaning “cheers!” or  “Enjoy excellent health.” Cheers to Saturday with Salute: a balanced dose of healthy recipes and weekend-worthy drinks.
Up first: a frozen breakfast bowl loaded with a rainbow’s worth of goodness. It’s a readily available, no sugar added version of an Acai or Pitaya bowl. I call it the Banana Bowl. Read on for the recipe…banana-bowl-ingred
* Banana
* Berries
* Shredded, Unsweetened, Toasted Coconut
* Bee Pollen
* Granola

* The Base: Peel, slice and freeze a banana for a few hours. Add to your blender or food processor, and blend until creamy. You’ll end up with a ice cream consistency. Spoon it into a bowl and top with your favorite goodies.
* The Toppings: Although the combo is completely up to you (think peanut butter, crushed peanuts, bee pollen and cacao!), try to include something crunchy, something flavorful (banana has a way of masking flavors), and a few colorful elements. The go-to combo is listed above.
